Back from the Journeys of Summer

I have made it back from many journeys this summer.  I hope to tell of few tales in the next couple of days and get back into the rhythm of blogging.  I guess I will start with the last adventure and then work my way forward again.

The family just got back yesterday from Steeler Camp.  It was a great trip and we had a great time with the Hoffmans.  It has been really fun to see Abby and Sara grow up.  Robert went down early to spend some time with Alex, but all that broke out were nerf gun fights.

Robert had another great day at camp and is really pumped as he starts his midget football practice this evening.  He managed to snag Parker's, Ward's, and Charlie Batch's autograph on a football yesterday.  So needles to say that cheered him up after the departure of Alan Fanaca.

So hope to be more regular and get you all caught up on the news.

Leatherheads

Getting in the football mood today.  I picked up Robert's birthday present at the frame shop.  We got his jersey, that Alan Faneca signed, framed for him.  It looks really nice.

To keep up the football theme, I am heading out tonight with the youth group to the Indiana District Spring Thingy.  We go to Clarion 1st UMC and have mixers, elections, praise and worship and a speaker.  Tonight's speaker is Ron Hipwell, who will share about his mission work in Mexico.  Perhaps tonight someone will get the call.

After the program we head down to the Clarion Mall and rent out the Destinta Theater all night and watch movies.  I am particularly looking forward to Leatherheads.  This is movie about the early days of professional football. 

My dad played football when all they wore were leather helmets.  He grew up in Clarion and played the line. I don't think he ever forgave the guy from New Bethlehem who messed up his feet when they played.  I know every time I drive through New Bethlehem I can hear him complaining about dirty stuff that went on along the line.

Coming Back

The Steelers are nicked up and preparing for a tough playoff run.  It looks like they are in for a real battle on Saturday with Jacksonville, especially since the line is banged up.  On that front I was happy to hear that the Steelers picked up Jason Capizzi again.  I hope that this will help them in the short term, but also in the long term as well.

I watched Capizzi at Training Camp and liked what I saw.  He still has a lot to learn about the game, but he as a great build and hopefully his aggressiveness in blocking is improving.  He had a little trouble at Pitt before he went to IUP, but hopefully his head is screwed on straight and he takes advantage of the opportunity.
